Karen Borchert is the CEO and Founder of Alpaca, a company focused on improving teacher wellbeing and school culture through monthly pulse surveys and personalized recognition. Their system helps school leaders gather actionable insights on how teachers feel and celebrate their contributions, making schools happier workplaces.
With extensive experience in scaling startups, Karen was the VP of Operations and later Chief Operating Officer at Flywheel, where she played a key role in the company’s growth leading up to its acquisition by WP Engine. Prior to that, she held leadership roles at Election Systems & Software, Phase2, and other organizations, driving operational excellence and strategic growth.
With extensive experience across product, operations, and leadership, Karen has been at the heart of building and scaling successful companies. She brings a unique perspective on startup vision, execution, leadership, and creating impactful businesses in the Midwest.
